John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people by his popular-folk hits Many of them were located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. He is now the symbol of Colorado to people around the world. When I travel, you are likely to meet people from the other end of the globe. For example people from New Zealand. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential when he first heard it. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
