Cate Blanchett

 Catherine Elise Blanchett, AC (/blaentSIt/; was born on May 14, 1969), is an Australian actor. She is considered to be one of the best actresses of her generation. Her versatility in independent and blockbuster films has earned her a name as a superb actor. Blanchett has been recognized with many prizes which include three British Academy Film Awards, two Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. She was also nominated for an Tony Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Tony Awards. Blanchett started her acting career on the Australian stage, playing roles like Electra (1992) as well as Hamlet (1994). The world was captivated by her performance in the role of Elizabeth I in Elizabeth (1998). She was awarded the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actress and received her first Academy Award nomination. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator (2004).
