 Dolly Rebecca Parton, born on January 19, 1946 was an American actor, singer-songwriter, and performer. Also, she is a philanthropist, actress as well as a businessperson and donor. Her involvement in the field of country music is her primary area of focus. Parton's popularity as a songwriter prompted her to release her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. The album was followed by successes throughout the 1960s, as a solo artist and also in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she hit her peak in sales during the 1970s, and continued to do so until the 1980s. While her 1990s albums were not well-received however, she did make commercial success during the 2000s. Since then, she has released albums through various independent labels which include Dolly Records. Parton has sold more than 100 million albums around the globe. The music she has released was approved by the Recording Industry Association of America, (RIAA), as platinum gold, platinum and multi-platinum. 25 of her tracks have made it to the top. She ranked the no. 1 on the Billboard country charts this year, which is the highest number for a female singer (tied with Reba McEntire). Her 44 Top 10 Country Albums are an all-time record for any artist.
