 Dolly Rebecca Parton, born on 19 January 1946 was an American actor, singer and songwriter. Also, she is a philanthropist as well as a businesswoman. Her country music career is her most notable achievement. Parton's popularity as a songwriter prompted her to release her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. The album was followed by successes throughout the 1960s, both as an individual artist and also in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she hit her peak in sales during the 1970s, and continued to do so until the 1980s. While her 1990s albums were not well-received however, she did make commercial success during the 2000s. Since then, she has released albums through various independent labels which include Dolly Records. Parton has sold more than 100 million albums around the globe. The music she has released was recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America, (RIAA), as platinum, gold, and multi-platinum. 25 of her tracks have made it to the top. She ranked no. 1 on the Billboard country charts this year, which is the highest number for a female singer (tied with Reba McEntire). Her 44 Top 10 Country Albums are an all-time record for any artist.
