 Mamie Van Doren was born Joan Lucille Olander on February 6, 1931, is an American singer, actress and sexual icon. One of her most well-known works is the rock 'n ' roll and juvenile delinquency film Untamed Youth (1957). She was the daughter of Warner Carl Olander (South Dakota) and Lucille Harriet Bennett (South Dakota). Three-quarters of her family's ancestry is Swedish and the remainder is a mix of German and English. Van Doren began working at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood as an usher in the beginning of 1946s. Van Doren was a minor character in a television show that was just beginning following the year. She was a member of Ted Fio Rito's band and competed in numerous beauty contests. She got married to Jack Newman at 17 and relocated to Santa Barbara, California. But Jack's abuse led to the couple's divorce quickly. When she was 18 years old, she was given the Miss Eight Ball and Miss Palm Springs titles in 1949. .
