 Dolly Rebecca Parton, born on 19 January 1946 was an American actor, singer and songwriter. Also, she is a philanthropist as well as a businesswoman. Her work in the field of country music is her most renowned achievement. Parton's popularity as a songwriter prompted her to release her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. The album was followed by successes throughout the 1960s, as a solo artist and also in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she hit her peak in sales in the 1970s, and continued to do so until the 1980s. While her 1990s albums were not well-received however, she did make commercial success during the 2000s. Since then, she has released albums through various independent labels which include Dolly Records. Parton has sold more than 100 million albums around the globe. Her music contains Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA-certified platinum gold, multi-platinum-award-winning tracks. 25 of her tracks have made it to the top. She topped the charts at the number. one on the Billboard country music chart which is a record for a female singer (tied with Reba McEntire). The singer has scored 44 Top 10 Country Albums in her career which is an all-time record for any artist. In addition, she has earned 110 career charted singles over the last 40 years.
